I first started hairdressing training at Goole College at the age of 19, and really began to get a feel for the industry. Knowing that I wanted to push myself further, I wanted to be in a salon full time, which is where I really discovered how amazing the buzz and energy of the hairdressing industry is!
I completed my hairdressing qualifications at Sessions, and really learnt amazing techniques and knew that this was the right career for me. You get to be as artistic and creative as you like, no day is the same, and the opportunities are amazing.
I got the chance to work at Graduate Fashion Week in London doing Session styling for the L’Oreal Professional portfolio team. This was 4 days of long hard work, styling catwalk hair for all of the models. It was fast paced and at times stressful making sure everything was perfect but as soon as the music came on and the models walked out with a look that I had created it was such a fantastic feeling of achievement.
I also completed a kerastase ambassador programme, specialising in hair and scalp care, and ensuring you get the best use out of your products.
I have only recently joined the team at Alexander’s and have already learnt so much more. Furthering my knowledge with Matrix Hair Colour after being sent on a course with Terry Longden was a fab experience. I developed all of my own pastel shades like pinks, lilacs and even green!
It is so amazing to be given the opportunity to work alongside such highly talented people, and bring something back to the salon that is so current and on trend.
The salon has such a fun atmosphere, and it is an absolute pleasure to work around such creative and inspirational people!
I can only see my career bettering from here on out, and I can’t wait to see what the future brings.
